How these calculators work
Every calculator on this site follows the same formula: enter your project dimensions, get a result instantly, in your browser, with no signup and no data sent to a server. The math itself is the same math contractors and estimators already use — area times depth for volume, volume times density for weight, area times unit cost for a price estimate — just automated so you are not doing it by hand on a scrap of plywood at the jobsite.
Material densities and cost ranges default to widely accepted U.S. construction averages (145 lb/ft³ for hot mix asphalt, 150 lb/ft³ for standard concrete, and so on), but every input is editable. If your supplier quotes a different density or your region prices materials differently, adjust the numbers and the result updates immediately. Toggle between imperial and metric units at any time without losing your inputs.
We built this because most “free” construction calculators online are either locked behind an email signup, cluttered with unrelated ads and pop-ups, or hide the formula entirely so you cannot sanity-check the number. Every calculator here shows its work: expand “Show Work” on any result to see the exact steps and formula used, not just a final figure you have to trust blindly.
These are planning estimates, not engineering specifications. Site conditions, material variability, and installation method all affect real-world material needs — for structural or load-bearing work, verify critical calculations with a licensed engineer.
